N. Kumar, Chairman of Sanmar group, was presented with the lifetime achievement award for promoting inclusion and furthering child’s rights at the Humanitarian Awards 2025 function held at Sheraton Grand Chennai resort in the ECR on Monday.
Palki Sharma, Managing Editor of Firstpost, presenting the award to Mr. Kumar said society played a bigger role than the government in creating an inclusive society for transpersons, persons with disabilities and others.
N. Ravi, director of Kasturi and Sons Ltd, participating in the 6th edition of the Humanitarian awards 2025 presented an award to Dr.Rekha Ramachandran, Co-Founder and Chairperson of the Down’s Syndrome Federation of India, for excellence destigmatisation of genetic disorders.
Health professionals comprising T.S. Surendran, Chairman of Sankara Nethralya, Madras ENT Research Foundation Managing Director Mohan Kameswaran, and P. Venkat, Senior Surgical Oncologist of Apollo Proton Centre, were presented the Humanitarian awards for health philanthropy, along with Maya Varadarajan, Managing Trustee of TTK Hospital for excellence in rehabilitation.
The other awardees included Social entrepreneur Meena Dadha, Social media influencer Samar Jeet Singh, Divya Vigneshwaran of Hasta Foundation, Ved Chikramane, founder of Kivvy project and Uday Kumar and Akshada of Swaamy Estates.
Activist Apsara Reddy who curated the Humanitarian Awards distributed scholarships to animal rights activist Mahi Mahesh and Sumithra Prasad of DORAI Foundation.
