Kanpur: A minor student's body was found hanging from a door frame at his residence under suspicious circumstances in Chakeri police station area on Monday night. The family members alleged it to be and alleged that it was staged as suicide.
On being informed, Chakeri police arrived with a forensic team. The police are questioning three suspects who were spotted on CCTV near the premises. Subsequent actions would depend on the findings of post-mortem, said police.
Father of the deceased, a jewellery artisan, resided with his wife, two sons and a daughter. He told the police that his elder son, a class XI student, helped him with his work. On Monday night, after dinner, the family retired to bed. Both the sons were sleeping downstairs while their parents and sister were on first floor and grandparents were sleeping on the second floor.
During the night, the boy's mother found his body hanging with a scarf from the door frame on the second floor. On hearing her scream, the other members and neighbours reached there and alerted the authorities.
Inspector Santosh Shukla arrived with a forensic team to investigate before sending the body for post-mortem examination. The boy's father and uncle suspect it to be a murder. On Feb 14, the boy's another uncle had filed a complaint of financial fraud at Chakeri police station against three individuals. Police surveillance footage had revealed three suspicious persons scaling the house wall at night. Investigators are exploring potential connections to the earlier lawsuit. Inspector Shukla stated that initial evidence suggests hanging as cause of death, however, all aspects are being investigated, including the camera footage.
