Over 500 students attended the Youth Summit organised by the Pandit Puttaraj Gavai Kala Prathisthana at KE Board’s First Grade Arts and Commerce College in Dharwad on Sunday.

Attendees passed a resolution to prepare Green Warriors and protect the environment from climate change, soil degradation and global warming.

The summit has also pressed for replenishing groundwater by harvesting rainwater, preserving biodiversity and protecting forests to ensure better air, water and soil quality.

MLC S.V. Sankanur said that youth have the power to shape the future of India. “There is immense, untapped power within young people and only when they achieve success in various fields can the nation attain comprehensive development,” he said.

Summit president P.V. Hiremath emphasised that youth should be committed to nation building and environment protection.

He urged them to participate in afforestation efforts by planting trees in every household and village. He urged them not to solely wait for government jobs but to explore employment opportunities in emerging fields like environment protection.

Principal Mohan Siddhanti stressed the importance of discipline in education and advised young people to move forward with dedication and devotion under the guidance of teachers.

Social activist and BJP leader Savita Amarshetti spoke on the topic of Youth and internet. She said that India can harness its demographic dividend by training its youth.

“This group, when equipped with diverse skills, can contribute to both personal growth and national development. However, it is disappointing that a significant portion of youth is becoming enslaved to the internet without acquiring essential skills,” she said.

President of All India Primary School Teachers Federation Basavaraj Gurikar, Organiser Marthandappa Katti and others were present.
