Hemant Soren, chairing the State Sentence Review Board meeting in Ranchi on Monday, approved the release of 37 life-term prisoners from various state jails.
The board reviewed 103 cases, including previously rejected ones, with detailed discussions on each prisoner's release proposal. Hemant examined feedback from courts concerned, SPs, jail superintendents, and probation officers before making decisions.
During the deliberations, special attention was paid to the prisoners' criminal tendencies and their potential for rehabilitation. The CM directed officials to conduct thorough verifications of prisoners' socio-economic and family backgrounds, while instructing the jail inspector general to maintain post-release monitoring.
