Include state freedom fighters in school curriculum: Minister
Gumla: Rural development minister Deepika Pandey Singh emphasized the importance of including freedom fighters from state in school curriculum while addressing a gathering of tribals in Gumla on Monday. The event marked the birth anniversary of Veer Buddhu Bhagat, who led the Larka Movement of 1832.
"There is a gap in giving proper recognition to our freedom fighters in history. We will ensure their inclusion in the curriculum so future generations can understand their contributions," Singh stated. She said chief minister Hemant Soren govt is committed to honouring these heroes and developing historical sites associated with them.
Lohardaga MP Sukhdeo Bhagat highlighted Veer Buddhu Bhagat's family's sacrifices during the Larka Movement. The MP announced plans to develop Bhagat's native village, Diko, as a tourist destination.
The celebration, titled "Jatra-sah-Vikas Mela," began with traditional tribal prayers and garlanding of Veer Buddhu Bhagat's image. The minister and MP distributed checks worth Rs 23 crore to beneficiaries during the programme.
