Lucknow: The two-day National Conference on ‘Promoting inclusion & equity for children with special needs' concluded on Saturday. The event organised by the National Association for the Blind (UP state branch, Lucknow), in collaboration with the department of UP empowerment of persons with disabilities provided a much-needed space to discuss strategies for fostering inclusivity in education and employment.
Special educator at Christ Church College, Lucknow, Salman Ali Qazi in his session on ‘Isolation to Inclusion-Strategies for Inclusive Education' stated, "Disability is not a problem, accessibility is." Salman explained that the environment in which a special child is, makes him able or disabled.
ENT surgeon Dr Rajat Jain, head of Dosti, Study Hall Tarannum N Khan, consultant in school education, Arnesh Chandra, special educator Christ Church College, Lucknow, Salman Ali Qazi, coordinator, Deaf Women Welfare Foundation, UP Shabana Khan, area head, Dr Reddy's Foundation Sudhanshu Srivastava, CEO, SCORE Foundation, George Abraham, assistant professor, clinical psychology, Amity Institute of Behavioural and Allied Sciences, Dr Sajid Kazmi and associate professor, KMCLU Musheer Ahmed were the speakers of the event.
