Once known as ‘second North Korea,’ this place is now a popular holiday destination, it is located in…, its name is...

We know about most of the countries in the world, but North Korea is a country about which very few people know, as it is the most closed-off country in East Asia. People here live a very restricted life, and there is nothing like freedom of speech in the East Asian country. Under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, the people of North Korea live in constant fear of government surveillance. But what if we say that there was a European country that was earlier called the “second North Korea”? For years, Albania was one of the most closed-off European countries.

Under the dictatorship of Enver Hoxha, Albania was isolated from the outside world. For Albanians, travel was banned, there was no freedom of speech, and people lived in fear of the government.

The era of dictatorship in Albania ended in 1991, and after that, the country has undergone a major transformation. Now, the country has emerged as most beautiful travel destination, showcasing stunning natural beauties and rich history.

Albania attracts visitors with its beautiful beaches, impressive mountains, and historic cities. The Albanian Riviera, frequently likened to the renowned coastlines of Greece and Italy, features clear waters, sandy shores and striking cliffs. Dhermi is becoming a popular destination for beach enthusiasts, while the UNESCO-recognized town of Gjirokastër highlights Albania’s Ottoman history through its stone architecture and winding streets.

If a visitor wants to travel to the country, they can visit a UNESCO site—the ancient ruins of Butrint. The site offers a deep history of Albania having Greek, Roman, and Byzantine influences. Tourists who are seeking some adventure can hike through the country’s rugged mountains or explore its lush forests.

Albania, once overlooked, is now welcoming visitors to explore its charm. Featuring a blend of historical significance, cultural richness, and stunning landscapes, this Balkan treasure is finally receiving the recognition it merits.
