Jahnavi Mehta, the 23-year-old daughter of popular 90s Bollywood actress, Juhi Chawla Mehta, drew attention at the IPL 2025 auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as she represented her mother at the high-stakes auction, alongside her father, Jay Mehta, and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Managing Director Venky Mysore.
Jahnavi Mehta’s presence at the KKR table stood out at the IPL auction, as it sent a clear message that the young woman was ready to take a leadership role in the Rs 4,171 crore Mehta Group business empire. The young heiress has become a familiar sight at major events, such as IPL matches and auctions, her role in the family’s business interests –especially related to KKR, which is co-owned by her mother, Juhi Chawla, and her father, Jay Mehta — has been growing.
An alumnus of the prestigious Columbia University in New York, United States, Jahnavi Mehta, unlike other star kids, has reportedly chosen family business over Bollywood, and is the heiress to the her mother’s Rs 4,600 crore empire that spans across the film industry, business, and cricket.
Jahnavi’s parents, Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta are the co-owners of the highly-successful and popular KKR IPL franchise. Additionally, Juhi has expanded her portfolio through investments in various sectors, from real estate to agriculture, and along with her successful acting career, have made her one of India’s most successful businesswomen.
Juhi Chawla is married to businessman Jay Mehta who runs the Mehta Group. The couple got married in 1995, nearly five years after Jay’s first wife, Sujata Birla, the sister of Birla Group’s Yash Birla, died in the tragic Indian Airlines Flight 605 plane crash.
Jay and Juhi have two children, Jahnavi Mehta, 23, and her younger brother, Arjun Mehta, who is 21. Notably, unlike other celeb kids who crave public attention and like to stay in the limelight, Jahnavi and her brother prefer to keep a low profile and lead private lives.
Jahnavi Mehta’s father, Jay Mehta, is the chairman of the Mehta Group, a multinational conglomerate that has business interests in diverse sectors such as packaging, horticulture, cement, building materials, among others. The group has a global presence, including nations like the United States, Canada, Kenya, and Uganda.
Currently, the Mehta Group owns assets valued at over $500 million (about Rs 4,200 crore), according to reports.
