The fast-track special court at Manjeri, which is the designated as POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) court, sentenced a 23-year-old man to 75 years in prison for sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl for over a year.
The case was registered at Vazhakkad police station against K. Nuhman from Muthuvallur. The court also slapped a fine of ₹6.25 lakh on Nuhman. If he fails to pay the fine, he should undergo 11 more months of imprisonment.
The fine will be given to the survivor. The court has ordered the District Legal Services Authority to pay compensation to the survivor under the victim compensation scheme.
