Fire at Bengaluru’s Palace Grounds; no casualties

Bengaluru: Decorative items placed in an open space at Palace Grounds were gutted in an accidental fire that broke out Sunday afternoon. One fire tender was pressed into service after the incident was reported at 4.10pm, and no casualties were reported, sleuths from fire and emergency services said.
The decorative materials were placed at Gayathri Vihar at Gate 4 along Ballari Road. Police suspect that heat caused by the sun could have ignited the fire. "Many flammable items were packed together on the ground, exposing them directly to sunlight. The fire was doused in less than 30 minutes," a police source said.
