Bengaluru: A 38-year-old man was hacked to death by his nephew and elder brother in Vittasandra Friday evening over a property dispute. The deceased was identified as Venugopal Reddy, owner of an earth mover (JCB). His nephew, identified as Radhakrishna, and the former's father, Narayanaswamy, both farmers, are the accused.
Based on the primary investigation, police said the incident happened around 5pm. Venugopal was the younger brother of Narayanaswamy. They shared their ancestral property in Vittasandra village near Electronics City. Venugopal alleged that his brother encroached on a part of the property reserved for him and also disputed ownership of the property along the roadside. Venugopal went near Narayanaswamy's house to question him. During the argument, Radhakrishna attacked Venugopal with a shovel. When he collapsed, Radhakrishna attacked him with a machete and hacked him to death.
The police, after receiving a message from Venugopal's family, rushed to the spot. Radhakrishna was on the run. Electronic City police have taken up the case against the son and father and are yet to arrest them.
