A huge number of people visited Credai FairPro 2025 in Chennai Trade Centre to avail themselves of special concessions for homebuyers that were announced by the banks. A large number of women were among the visitors at the expo on Saturday.

Central Bank of India senior manager R. Tharika said visitors were advised to use the special concession in interest rates provided to women homebuyers during the exhibition. “The special concession for women buyers is 8.1% rate of interest for the home loan at FairPro 2025. The floating rate of interest is 8.25% for a home loan. There are no processing charges. The repo rate is low, and home loans will be affordable. The repo change in April is also expected to keep interest rate low,” she said.

While over 60% of the enquiries pertained to flats, 40% were for purchase of plot for house construction. State Bank of India Assistant General Manager M.S. Seshachalam said home buyers were likely to save around ₹7 lakh owing to the concessions offered by the bank for FairPro 2025. “We have issued in-principle sanction for home loans worth around ₹200 crore,” he said. Areas such as Tambaram, Porur, and Alandur have registered many enquiries.

Shanmugam of Sriperumbudur, who purchased a property at the expo, said: “Attending the expo was the best decision we made for our property search. The event has brought together top developers, offering a wide range of options under one roof. We found our dream property at a great price with exclusive offers. The entire process, from selection to booking, was seamless and transparent.”

S. Sivagurunathan, advisor, FairPro 2025, said the footfall at the exhibition was good. “During the normally lean time of 3 p.m. on Saturday, around 7,000 people were in the exhibition hall. We are expecting a huger crowd tomorrow. It shows the market trend. It is growing beyond our imagination. The developers are very happy. According to feedback from the developers, 2.5 BHK and 3.5 BHK apartments are very popular.”
