Anantapur: Kadapa district has been awarded Rs 3 crore by NITI Aayog for its outstanding performance under the Aspirational Districts Programme. It has been recognised as one of the 36 top-performing districts among 112 Aspirational Districts across the country.
NITI Aayog conferred this award for Kadapa’s achievements in February 2024 under the Financial Inclusion and Skill Development theme. This recognition underscores the district administration’s commitment to empowering communities by enhancing financial literacy, expanding banking access, promoting digital transactions, and implementing skill-building programmes.
“The recognition is a result of the effective implementation of government schemes, proactive governance, and innovative strategies aimed at improving socio-economic conditions,” observed Kadapa District Collector Dr Sreedhar Cherukuri.
He further added that the district has prioritised strengthening financial inclusion programmes and creating employment opportunities through targeted skill development initiatives. The Rs 3 crore allocation will be utilised to boost startup initiatives for youth in the district, fostering innovation and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities.
“This milestone reinforces the district’s dedication to achieving long-term socio-economic transformation and serves as motivation to continue its progress towards inclusive and sustainable development,” Dr Sreedhar Cherukuri stated.
