Many actresses in Indian cinema have transitioned from South films to mainstream Bollywood. Such actresses have worked with numerous actors. However, there are times when actresses gain recognition with their Bollywood debut. One such actress we are talking about made headlines with her Bollywood debut alongside Salman Khan. Though she featured in a bunch of movies in the South, her luck shined with Salman Khan’s film.

The actress we are talking about started with Telugu films in 2000. However, her major breakthrough came in 2003 when she featured in a Salman Khan film. Her Bollywood debut was a superhit and gave her recognition. The actress we are referring to is Bhumika Chawla.

Bhumika Chawla started her career with Yuvakudu in 2000. Until 2003, she featured in Tamil and Telugu films. However, real fame came when she starred in Tere Naam alongside Salman Khan. Bhumika’s performance as Nirjara Bharadwaj was extremely touching for the audience.

After Tere Naam, Bhumika appeared in several Hindi films such as Run, Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa, Silsiilay, Dil Jo Bhi Kahey, and more. However, her movies did not perform well at the box office.

You will be amazed to know that Bhumika revealed she was replaced by other actresses in blockbuster films like Jab We Met and Munna Bhai MBBS. In an interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan, Bhumika Chawla spoke about the incident, saying, “The only time I felt bad was when I signed Jab We Met and it didn’t happen. I was the first one, Bobby (Deol) and I, when it was called Train. Then, it was Shahid (Kapoor) and me, and then Shahid and Ayesha (Takia), and then Shahid and Kareena (Kapoor). That’s how things happened, but it’s okay. I only felt bad once and then never again because I just moved on. I don’t think much about it.”

She further added, “I had signed up for Munna Bhai MBBS, but it didn’t happen. Kannathil Muthamittal with Mani (Ratnam) sir also didn’t happen.”

Adding to this, Bhumika said that such decisions in the industry are common and one should not take them to heart. Meanwhile, Bhumika still looks as young as 18 even at 46, and reports claim her net worth is Rs 15 crores.
