Patna: A 20-year-old married woman, Kajal Kumari, was found dead in her home at Dahaur village in the Barh police station area of Patna district on Friday. According to the family members, Kajal took her life out of fear of failing in her Intermediate exams.
The incident occurred when Kajal was alone on the rooftop of the house along with her two-year-old daughter. When the child started crying incessantly, the family members rushed to the rooftop and found Kajal hanging from a beam, said police.
Kajal's mother-in-law, Usha Devi, said Kajal was suffering from depression since the beginning of her Inter exams; she had a fear that she would fail in it. She could not attend tuition classes, as her husband, Arvind Kumar, a painter, did not give permission for it.
"Kajal was keen to study and secure a better future, but her husband would not permit her to attend classes. This led to a lot of tension and stress in her life," Usha said.
"We are investigating the matter and speaking to the family members to know the cause of Kajal taking the extreme step," said sub-inspector, Navneet Rai, of Barh police station.
