Ludhiana sees warmer days & nights, rain likely to lash dist next week
Ludhiana: With the maximum temperature (24.2°C) several notches higher than usual Friday, the city continues to witness warmer days and nights. The Met department has also said there is a possibility of rain next week.
Friday was a sunny day with a gentle breeze blowing at many places. The daytime temperature was more than a day earlier. The night-time temperature of 10.8°C was marginally less (0.6 degrees) than the day before, but 2.5 degrees above normal.
Weathermen have predicted "partly cloudy sky" for the next four days (Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday). The city is likely to see "partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunderstorm" for the subsequent two days.
The Met department website says the daytime temperature is expected to touch 25°C degrees by Monday, fall to 22°C the next day, rise by a degree on Wednesday and Thursday. The night-time temperature is likely to hover over 10°C for the next three days and drop to 9°C for three days after that.
Residents are not complaining though.
Roop Dhillon, a homemaker from Dugri, said, "It's such a relief that I don't have to pile on woollens any longer. It gets nice and pleasant in the evening. I can go out for long walks now."
Sukhpreet Singh, another resident, hopes that summer doesn't get harsh just yet. "Though I am enjoying the warm weather, I hope it's not a precursor to a long and unsparing summer. The expected spell of rain will pull down the mercury levels."
