Pune: The Maharashtra government is prioritizing enhanced connectivity for the proposed international airport at Purandar. Plans include metro lines, railway links, and a network of connecting roads. The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has incorporated these provisions into its budget and integrated transport plan, ensuring smooth access to the airport in the future.

An integrated transport plan has been prepared for Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the PMRDA area, covering a total of 2,550 square kilometers. The project is expected to cost ₹1.26 lakh crore. As part of this plan, new metro corridors, PMPML routes, terminals, and railway connections have been proposed. Additionally, several new roads, concrete paths, and connectors to national and state highways are planned, with ₹636 crore allocated over the next few years.

Road Improvements:
Key improvements are planned for roads like Hadapsar-Saswad via Dive Ghat, Saswad-Bopdev, Uruli Kanchan-Jejuri, Saswad-Kapurhol-Bhor, and Khed Shivapur-Saswad Link Road. These upgrades will benefit travelers accessing the airport from Nagar Road, Solapur Road, and Satara Road.

Railway Connectivity:
A dedicated railway spur line will be developed from Rajewadi Station on the Pune-Satara route to the airport, ensuring convenient travel for passengers. The plan also includes connecting Talegaon and Daund stations via an outer ring railway corridor.
