Hassan: Leader of the opposition R Ashoka claimed that the mob would have burned down the Udayagiri police station, but Mysuru city police acted swiftly and prevented it. Referring to the attack on Udayagiri police station in Mysuru city earlier this week, he said the city police took preventive measures to avert a major disaster. Otherwise, the entire police station would have burned, he told reporters at Sakleshpura.
Criticising the state govt's management of the attack, he accused Congress functionaries of indulging in appeasement politics. "The govt is trying to demoralise police. The govt was conspiring to cover up the entire case," he claimed.
He claimed that Karnataka would get a new CM in mid-Nov. There was confusion in Congress over changing the CM. (Deputy CM) Shivakumar mastered the art of creating conflicts, and he was waiting for the right moment to strike, he said. Ashoka predicted that the CM would be changed by Nov 15 or 16. As the opposition leader, he claimed to have sufficient information about the changes. There would be disaster in Congress if the CM was not changed, he said.
Highlighting the wild elephant conflict in the state, Ashoka said the previous BJP govt allocated funds for railway barricades. But the Congress govt has not released the remaining funds. The govt is even hesitant to provide compensation to the deceased, he alleged. The delay in unveiling Dasara elephant Arjuna's statue is also a govt failure, he stated. Arjuna died in a wild elephant attack in Yeslur in Sakleshpura.
