During the fishermen grievances redress meeting held here on Friday, Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon urged country boat owners to renew their boats’ license to avail government offered assistances.

Further, he assured the fishermen that steps would be taken by the district administration to provide them the welfare assistance that was pending for them.

Also, Mr. Simranjeet Singh Kahlon noted that diplomatic actions were underway for the release of fishermen who were arrested by Sri Lankan Navy.

He appealed to the fishermen to stick to the boundary that permitted them to fish in the sea water.

“Works to rope in panchayat and municipality bodies to take up the coastal cleaning works is being taken. Once done, cleaning works would be done by the workers working under the local body administrations,” he added.
