Truck kills 10-yr-old schoolgirl in Buxar

Buxar: A Class IV student died when a sand-laden truck crushed her while she was returning home from school near Pratap Sagar village on the Ara-Buxar four-lane road under the jurisdiction of Naya Bhojpur police station on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased, identified as 10-year-old Nibha Kumari, was the daughter of one Shankar Mahato, a resident of Pratap Sagar. According to eyewitnesses, a long queue of trucks had formed in the lane heading towards Buxar. "A truck from UP came overtaking at high speed and crushed the girl," said an eyewitness. The driver abandoned the truck and fled.
Enraged villagers pelted stones at the vehicle and blocked NH-922 for three hours, demanding justice. They also raised slogans against the administration and insisted on the presence of the DM and SP. The protest was lifted only after Dumraon SDPO Afaq Akhtar Ansari intervened.
"The police have seized the truck and a search operation is on to nab the absconding driver," said the SDPO.
