As part of the Tamil Nadu Government’s mission for a “Drug-Free Tamil Nadu,” the Police organised a competition aimed at creating short films and reels to raise awareness about drug abuse.
The competition, conducted by the Enforcement Bureau CID, was open to colleges around Chennai. Eight colleges participated in the competition, in which teams of students submitted 23 videos. . The first-place winner was R. Suriyan and his team from D.G. Vaishnav College in Arumbakkam, Chennai, who received a cash prize of ₹1,00,000.
The second-place winner was D. Karthick from Patrician College of Arts and Science in Adyar, Chennai, who was awarded ₹50,000. The third-place winner was P. Rajeswari from M.O.P. Vaishnav College in Nungambakkam, Chennai, who received a cash prize of ₹25,000.
In addition to the top three, 20 other teams, were recognised for their efforts in raising awareness against drug abuse. Each of these teams was awarded a cash prize of ₹10,000 and a Certificate of Appreciation .
The awards were presented by Shankar Jiwal, Director General of Police, Tamil Nadu, who commended all the participants for their valuable contributions in the fight against drug abuse. A. Amalraj, Additional Director General of Police, Enforcement Bureau CID, along with senior officers including G. Karthikeyen, IGP, Enforcement, and A. Mylvaganan, Superintendent of Police, NIB CID, Chennai, also attended the event.
