Man shot dead hours after cops defuse clash

Jodhpur: A 26-year-old man was shot dead inside his car past Tuesday midnight in Dechu area of Phalodi district, hours after police had intervened to defuse a clash between two groups he was involved in.
Police said the deceased, Junjhar Singh, was a security in-charge at a local solar power plant.
According to police, there was a longstanding dispute over land between Junjhar Singh and Raju Singh, and there had been clashes between their groups over the issue on multiple occasions in the past.
On Tuesday evening, the two groups had clashed near Dechu, police said. "Around 2am, Raju Singh was having a meal with his group at a roadside dhaba on Jodhpur-Jaisalmer highway. It is reported that during this time, Jhunjhar Singh also arrived there in his car. Upon seeing him, Raju Singh opened fire. A bullet struck Jhunjhar Singh, killing him inside his car," a police officer said.
The officer added that just before the murder, Raju Singh and Junjhar Singh had an argument over phone.
