Robbers decamp with valuables over Rs 25 lakh from ex-state executive secy’s apartment
Patna: Burglars decamped with valuables worth Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh from the apartment of a former executive secretary of the Bihar Legislative Council in Patna in Defence Colony, Danapur, police said on Thursday.
According to the police, the flat owner, Dhruv Narayan Pathak, had gone to attend a wedding ceremony with his family when the burglars broke the main door and stole the valuables, including cash and gold as well as silver ornaments.
His son-in-law, Vijay Kumar Ojha, who lives in the adjacent flat, saw the broken lock of the flat on Wednesday and found all the things scattered on the floor, following which he informed the police and Pathak.
On receiving the information, Pathak and his wife rushed from Palamu, Jharkhand, to his flat in Danapur and submitted a written application to the police station on Wednesday. He informed the police that he went to Palamu to attend his niece's wedding with the family.
"I immediately took a car and rushed home after my son-in-law informed me over the phone. The burglars stole jewellery valued between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 30 lakh, along with Rs 6,000 in cash," he told the police.
The police reached the spot and started to investigate the matter. Forensic and fingerprint teams were also called to gather evidence. The police also examined the CCTV footage installed in the vicinity and the apartment.
Prashant Kumar Bhardwaj, SHO of Danapur police station, said, "The victim has filed an FIR. Investigation is underway. Footage of CCTV cameras installed in the nearby areas is being examined. The thieves will be arrested soon," he said.
