We are delighted to celebrate the recipients of the Dr. A. Surjalal Sharma Memorial Grant, a prestigious award established by the North American Manipur Association (NAMA) in memory of the late Dr. A. Surjalal Sharma, a renowned Manipuri astrophysicist and founding member of NAMA. This grant recognizes exceptional Ph.D. candidates in Manipur who demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to advancing innovative research in physics, social sciences, humanities, and beyond.
The recipients of the grant are:
o Mairembam Kelvin Singh, Department of Physics, Manipur University
“Data-Driven Modelling and Prediction of Complex Nonlinear Critical Phenomena in Climate Change Dynamics and Variability in Manipur”
o Somi Raikhan, Department of History, Manipur University
“Analytical Study of Christianity from the Indigenous Perspective in the Late 19th and Early 20th Century Manipur”
We will also acknowledge honorable mentions for their outstanding applications and potential to impact their respective fields. This ceremony will include reflections on Dr. Sharma’s extraordinary legacy and his enduring impact on Manipuri scholars and researchers by Professor Lalit Pukhrambam, Department of Ophthalmology, Visual and Anatomical Sciences, Wayne State University, Michigan USA. Your presence will lend support to these bright minds and their commitment to advancing academic excellence.
