Continuing their crackdown on illegal immigrants in the city, sleuths from the Anti Narcotics Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB), Bengaluru City Police, tracked down 10 foreign nationals staying illegally in the city, and have initiated procedures to deport them.

Based on specific inputs, the officials conducted search operations in Chikkajala and arrested three foreigners including two men and a woman staying in a rented house. Similar operations were carried out in Hennur, Amruthalli, Vidyaranyapura, Govindapura and Puttenahalli and seven foreign nationals were arrested.

In the Hennur case, the police recovered 55 grams of MDMA crystals and three kilos of Marijuana from the arrested foreign nationals.

The prime accused is a habitual offender in a similar case in Baiyappanahalli in 2024. He was out on bail and changed his location to peddle drugs, the police said.

The accused were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, presented before the court, and remanded into judicial custody.

Similarly, some of the other foreign nationals arrested were also involved in drug peddling cases and had changed location and jumped bail to continue their illegal activities. While the accused engaged in Hennur Govindapura and Puttenahalli cases have been remanded to judicial custody, the others have been produced before the FRRO and sent to the Detention Centre to carry out the deportation process, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda said.

Unconnected to this special drive, Mahadevapura police arrested a labourer from Odisha and recovered 10 kilos of Marijuana worth ₹5 lakh which he had smuggled from his home town concealed in apple baskets.
