Ludhiana: After a local court issued an arrest warrant against Bollywood actor Sonu Sood in connection with a case of alleged fraud, the actor appeared in court through video-conferencing on Monday. The warrant was issued by judicial magistrate, first class Ramanpreet Kaur on Jan 29.
Advocate Ritesh Mohindra, who appeared to assist Sonu Sood in court, said that the actor denied having been a brand ambassador or being involved in any promotion for the company of the accused. He said that he may have had attended an event as a guest but was not sure as he had attended 300 to 400 events in the last four years.
Advocate Ritesh Mohindra said that only this evidence was recorded and he was discharged by the court. He added that Sonu Sood was only called as a witness in the case and not as an accused. The next date of hearing is March 20.
Sonu Sood said on social media, "We need to clarify that the news circulating on social media platforms is highly sensationalised. To put matters straight, we were summoned as a witness by the Honourable Court in a matter pertaining to a third party to which we have no association or affiliation. Our lawyers responded, and on 10 February 2025, we will give a statement that clarifies our non-involvement in the matter."
