Love, Unsure
Ningthelnganbi Nongmaithem *
I gave my heart: a gift so pure,
To someone who was unsure,
Their words were sweet, their touch, so kind
Yet shadows lurked within their mind;
I painted skies with hues of gold,
In hopes they'd cherish, love untold,
But in their eyes, I saw the truth-
A fleeting spark, devoid of youth
I built for them castles in the air,
With dreams and hopes beyond compare!
Yet they, with careless hands, did break
The fragile bonds I dared to make;
They took my love, but gave me pain,
A hollow echo in the rain,
Promises like empty shells,
In the tides where sorrow dwells
Yet in this loss, I've come to see,
The strength that's always been in me;
For love, though given, unreturned,
Is a lesson harshly learned.
So now I stand, with heart anew,
Wiser after trial I've been through;
I know my worth and what I'll give,
To someone who deserves to live.
