Gurgaon: Societies along the Dwarka Expressway were left without power on Sunday after a fire broke out at the control room of the 220/33KV substation in Sector 107.
The incident disrupted nine major 33KV outgoing feeders, which affected nearly two dozen residential and commercial complexes across new sectors of the city. Among the affected societies are Chintels Serenity, ATS Tourmaline, Sobha City, M3M Woodshire, Experion Windchant, and Emaar Gurgaon Greens.
Sectors 102, 103, 107, 108, 109, and 112 were the worst hit, leaving thousands of residents without electricity.
According to the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL), the fire was caused by a fault at the 33KV feeder, which led to flashing around 8:20 am on Sunday, severely damaging the electric panel.
As repair work continues, DHBVN urged developers and residents' welfare associations (RWAs) to arrange for alternate power supplies until Monday evening.
The initial estimate suggests damage of around Rs 2 crore.
