Based on a specific intelligence input that ganja was being smuggled into the city for distribution across the city, a team of police, led by Inspector of Police, M. Mohammed Idris, conducted a vehicle check at Arapalayam roundabout.

The police intercepted a van for checking when four persons who jumped out of the vehicle tried to flee.

However, the police managed to chase them and eventually nabbed them.

Upon checking, the police found that 150 kg was being brought from Andhra Pradesh by the accused. The accused had tried to divert the attention of the police with stickers as if the van belonged to a courier service.
