Lift garbage twice a day, increase refuse bins in Mango area: MNAC
Jamshedpur: The Mango Notified Area Committee (MNAC) in-charge town commissioner, Dipankar Chaudhary, has directed sanitation officials to implement daily garbage collection twice in high-waste generation areas, particularly markets and public spaces.
During his Sunday inspection of various localities including Dimna Chowk, Dimna Road, Payal Cinema Road, and Chepapul, Chaudhary assessed the effectiveness of the waste management system, focusing on collection, transportation, and disposal processes.
The commissioner has instructed cleaning vendors to increase the number of bins across the command area to improve accessibility for residents.
Currently, over 200 garbage bins, comprising both 150-litre and 200-litre double-bucket containers, are installed in major residential colonies and markets.
To enhance waste management efficiency, vendors must ensure garbage disposal at designated sites in residential and public areas to prevent littering. Additionally, transportation vehicles must cover their cargo beds with plastic sheets to control odour and prevent waste spillage during transit.
MNAC, which handles 52 metric tonnes of waste daily through its fleet of 26 refuse collection vehicles (RCVs), faces a significant challenge due to the absence of a dedicated dumping site. Currently, the municipal waste is being disposed of in open fields along National Highway (NH 33). The commissioner's directives aim to improve the overall cleanliness and waste management system in Mango.
These measures reflect the administration's commitment to maintaining better sanitation standards and addressing the growing waste management challenges in the area.
