Gandhinagar: About 2,900 of the primary agriculture credit societies (PACS) in the state are set to become fully computerised within the next few weeks, as the state govt is implementing a project to computerise all the PACS in the state. In the first phase, 5,754 PACS have been selected for computerisation, under which they will be connected with
NABARD, the state cooperative bank, and district cooperative banks. The govt said that all PACS are expected to go online within six months.
An official statement said that the Union cooperation ministry has introduced the PACS computerisation scheme to integrate all functional PACS onto a unified enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform. This initiative connects them with the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) through State Cooperative Banks (StCBs) and District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs).
Under the scheme, govt has equipped PACS with essential hardware, including desktops, multi-function printers, VPN devices, biometric scanners, web cameras, UPS systems, and the necessary software. "About 2,900 PACS have reached the ‘Go Live' stage, and all the PACS in the state are expected to function as e-PACS within six months," the statement said.
PACS computerisation will enhance the speed, transparency, and accountability of operations, improve both credit and non-credit services for members, enable timely detection of financial irregularities, boost the efficiency of PACS staff, and expand financial inclusion, the statement added.
