Lucknow: It is high time that all inequalities were eliminated and Dalits, transgenders, tribals and other marginalized communities were integrated into the mainstream of society, according to social welfare minister (independent charge) Asim Arun.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the two-day event ‘Bhagidari Sahitya Utsav' at the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) on Saturday, the minister said, "The younger generation needs to take proactive steps in this direction, as social change and creation of inclusive society are possible only through their efforts."
"This initiative, aimed at bringing marginalised voices to the centerstage, is now in its second edition.

It seeks to provide a platform to communities that have long been on the fringes — women, Dalits, transgender individuals, and tribal groups — to share their perspectives and challenges. A key focus of this year's gathering is the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, honouring his legacy in the fight for tribal rights," he said.
"The event also highlights the need for inclusivity, ensuring that those who have been historically left behind are given a voice in national discourse," he added
Chief guest on the occasion, entrepreneur Kalpana Saroj said, "If you have the will to achieve, no barrier — be it caste, creed, gender, or societal norms — can stop you. In today's world, countless opportunities await those who dare to pursue their dreams."
"Everyone should be willing to take risks. Instead of blaming lack of opportunities, we should recognise that with smartphones we have countless possibilities at our fingertips. We just need to explore them," she said.
She spoke about her struggles in an abusive marriage, her near-fatal suicide attempt, and the threats she faced upon entering the business world. Despite being denied police security, she secured a gun licence within a day — a testament to her determination. She urged the audience to believe in resilience and perseverance as the true architects of success.
In the moment of shared enthusiasm, the audience chanted ‘Jai Bhim', reflecting deep admiration for Ambedkar's ideology.
