Fire breaks out on road following leak in gas pipeline

Dharwad: There was panic and chaos among people of Rajatgiri area in Dharwad, after fire broke out on the road due to a gas pipeline leakage on Sunday morning.
Morning walkers spotted the fire on a stretch at Rajatgiri Cross 1, and thought that someone might have set dry leaves on fire. However, within a few seconds, the fire started to spread on the entire stretch, prompting them to summon police and firefighters.
The firefighters immediately rushed to the spot and used water canons to douse the fire. It took them almost 15 minutes to douse the fire. Vidyagiri police cordoned off the road, prohibiting movement of vehicles and pedestrians on the road.
Emergency service staff stated that fire broke out due to a leakage in the gas pipeline laid by IOC and Adani. The leakage was arrested and the fire was put off. No damage to property or life has been reported.
