Kanpur: Rahul, a 19-year-old, ended his life by hanging in his house in Dabauli area of the city on Saturday night. He was a third-year undergraduate student at Armapur PG College. On being informed, the police reached the site and sent the body for post-mortem.
Ramesh Agarwal, a private employee and a resident of Dabauli lived with his wife Kiran, daughter Jyoti, and son Rahul on the first floor of their two-story house, while his elder brother Naresh's family lived on the ground floor. Ramesh said that his son had been talking to a girl on the phone for hours. Late on Saturday night, Rahul asked for a thousand rupees, which Ramesh transferred online. Rahul then went to his room to sleep.
After a while, when Kiran went to the room, she found her son's body hanging. The family gathered after hearing the commotion. They took the body down, but he was already dead. Govindnagar police arrived along with the forensic team. A suicide note was found at the location.
Ramesh said that on the next morning after Rahul's death, a girl called on his phone. When his daughter informed her about Rahul's death, she hung up. Investigation revealed that the money transferred by Ramesh was transferred to the girl on Saturday night. "We are in the process of ascertaining the actual cause that prompted the boy to end his life," said police further.
