The TDP-led NDA government in the State will extensively encourage clinical psychology courses, announced Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Y. Satya Kumar Yadav on Saturday (February 8).

Posting on ‘X’, the Minister said clinical psychologists played a key role in diagnosing and treating persons with various psychological issues. There are, however, few clinical psychologists in public and private sectors in the State, owing to a lack of courses, he said.

In view of the rising incidence of psychological problems among the population, the government has decided to start a two-year M. Phil and a one-year professional diploma in the field, the Minister said, adding that he has asked the Department to finalise guidelines for starting these courses at the earliest.
