Varanasi: At least two pilgrims were killed while seven others were injured in a road accident near Vikrampur overbridge on the Varanasi-Prayagraj highway in Bhadohi district on Saturday.
All the pilgrims were travelling in an SUV from Gaya district, Bihar to Prayagraj to attend the Maha Kumbh.
Bhadohi ASP Tejveer Singh said the devotees from Sherdhari village of Gaya were heading to Prayagraj.

Around 3.30 am, their vehicle developed a snag and they reached near Vikrampur in Aurai, where the driver tried to fix the problem by parking the SUV on roadside on the highway. A pickup van coming from behind hit the SUV.
In the collision, all pilgrims in the SUV were injured and were rushed to the community health centre of Kachhawa, where Dilip Kumar Pandey (55) was declared dead, while his wife Asha Pandey (48) died during treatment at the trauma centre of BHU.
The other seven injured pilgrims, including Nirbhay Kumar, Jyoti, Tanu, Sujit Pandey, Kameshwar Pandey, Anjali Kumari and Niku Pandey, were also admitted to the trauma centre of BHU in Varanasi.
