‘For accountancy: know exam pattern, questions to attempt’
Jaipur: Abhishek Jain, an accountancy teacher at Maheshwari Public School, said the exam for accountancy subject consists of two parts: Part A, which is compulsory and carries 60 marks, and Part B, which carries 20 marks. "Part B offers two choices—analysis of financial statements and computerised accounting—out of which students must attempt only one.Attempting both sections is a mistake that could lead to unnecessary loss of marks," he said.
"As per CBSE norms, students should not spend more than two minutes on one-mark questions, more than eight minutes on four-mark questions, and more than 12 minutes on six-mark questions. Students should use the question-reading time wisely, carefully going through the questions and deciding which to attempt first," said Jain.
While attempting MCQs, students must take care to ensure they write the correct option clearly without any overwriting, as this could lead to confusion and possible deduction of marks. In Part B of the accountancy paper, he advised students to be cautious and attempt questions from only one section—choosing between financial statement analysis or computerised accounting—rather than attempting questions from both, which is a common error students make.
"The importance of neatness and clarity in answers cannot be overstated. Well-structured answers, proper calculations and a systematic approach can make a big difference in how the answers are evaluated and marke," said Jain.
