New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal, former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP's national convener faced a surprising defeat in the New Delhi assembly seat on Saturday, February 8 against BJP candidate Parvesh Verma.

Releasing his first reaction on X following the poll debacle, Kejriwal said, "We accept the mandate of the people with great humility. I congratulate the BJP for this victory and I hope they will fulfil all the promises for which people have voted them. We have done a lot of work in the field of health, education, infrastructure in the last 10 years. We will not only play the role of a constructive opposition but will also remain among the people and continue to serve them."

The BJP made a historic comeback in Delhi after almost three decades, defeating Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP. As per the latest trends by the Election Commission, the BJP is leading in 47 seats, while the AAP is ahead in 23.
