A lioness died in the Belagavi zoo on Thursday. Nirupama, the lioness, was 15 years old. She died due to multi-organ failure and advancing age, officers of the Kittur Channamma Zoo at Bhootaramanahatti said.
Veterinarians were treating the lioness for over 15 days. Nirupama was brought to the zoo five years ago.
The carcasss was cremated after a post-mortem procedure, said a press release.
