12 Namma Clinics to be launched in Mysuru
Mysuru: Mysuru district health authorities are ready to launch 12 Namma Clinics, including in public places like Chamundi Hills, city bus stand, and the KSRTC bus stand.
These clinics will offer the public free consultations, screenings, tests, and medicines. Apart from these services, counselling for women's and children's healthcare, and adolescents will be provided by experts at the Namma Clinic.Vaccination for children and the public will also be administered, and treatment for diabetics, people suffering from blood pressure, viral fever, and other diseases will be available at these clinics. Detection of breast cancer, cervical cancer, eye problems, and mental health counselling will be conducted at these clinics.
As Mysuru is growing rapidly, new layouts are also coming up around villages within a 15km radius, with people from these areas finding it difficult to access basic health services. The establishment of new Namma Clinics will not only help the residents but also assist tourists and thousands of visitors at Chamundi Hills.
All these sanctioned 12 new clinics are coming up in areas like Sardar Vallabhbai Patelnagar, Rajivnagar, Old Kesare, Bharathinagar, Ekalavyanagar, Vijayanagar 1st Stage, 3rd stage, and 4th Stage, Dattagalli, Chamundi Hills, City Bus Stand, and Rural Bus Stand.
Currently, the department also operates nine Namma Clinics in different areas. Buoyed by the success of Namma Clinics and receiving an overwhelming response from the public, the state govt has sanctioned 12 clinics in addition to the existing nine clinics in Mysuru. The state govt has established such clinics in areas with a density of 20,000.
The establishment of 12 new Namma Clinics will help the population of another 1.6 lakh people. Now, 21 primary health centres are in operation in all 65 wards of Mysuru City Corporation. Other than these, Mysuru city has two each community health centres, women and children hospitals, District Hospital, KR Hospital, Cheluvamba Hospital, Superspeciality Hospital, Trauma Care Centre, Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research Centre, and other hospitals are functioning to cater to healthcare facilities for the increasing population.
Speaking to TOI, district health officer Dr PC Kumaraswamy said that the state govt has sanctioned an additional 12 Namma Clinics as part of extending its medical care services to the growing population of the rapidly expanding city.
KSRTC also wrote a letter to the state govt to establish such Namma Clinics at City Bus Stand and Rural Bus Stand, and it also provided space to operate the clinic, the DHO stated.
