New Delhi: In a bid to boost the morale of candidates and office-bearers on the eve of the Delhi election results, AAP and
BJP held their meetings on Friday.
AAP's national convenor
Arvind Kejriwal advised candidates to sustain their election-time resolve, while BJP state president Virendra Sachdeva directed the party's agents to arrive at counting stations well-prepared, with the party giving them a comprehensive briefing about the counting procedures.
Kejriwal held a meeting with all 70 party candidates to prepare them for the upcoming challenge, said the party. During the meeting, Kejriwal reassured the candidates that AAP was on the track to form the govt in Delhi. He urged them to maintain the same determination they showed during the election and to be fully prepared for the counting process. "AAP will stand firm against any attempts to undermine the mandate given by the people of Delhi," he told them.
Sachdeva said the party office-bearers explained the entire drill to its counting agents. A senior BJP functionary said the agents were especially told to maintain their calm even if the opposition agents try to incite them. The party also instructed its spokespersons to maintain humility in their body language.
AAP's Delhi state convenor Gopal Rai reiterated the party's confidence in securing a decisive victory. He said all AAP candidates submitted their reports during the meeting held under Kejriwal's leadership. "The feedback from candidates clearly indicates that AAP is set to win more than 50 seats," he said.
He said the people of Delhi had given AAP a clear mandate to form the govt. He accused BJP of attempting to manipulate public perception through exit polls. He said BJP's desperation over its impending defeat was evident from its attempts to lure AAP candidates and MLAs with money and ministerial positions to switch sides.
BJP's Northeast Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari said: "We are taking the allegations of horse-trading seriously and the party would have already filed a complaint about it. What is the basis of these allegations? BJP will not tolerate it."
