Millions of sisters betrayed by govt: Patole on Ladki Bahin
Mumbai: MPCC president Nana Patole on Saturday said the "three brothers" who came to power with the votes of Ladki Bahin betrayed millions of sisters when they deleted their names from the list of beneficiaries.
Patole said the women and child welfare department should have imposed norms when the scheme was first introduced.
"Through the Ladki Bahin scheme, the BJP-led Mahayuti govt has defrauded millions of women in the state for securing their votes during the assembly elections. They promised Rs 1,500 to all the sisters and after coming to power, have now begun cutting off this financial assistance. So far, five lakh sisters have been declared ineligible, and there is a possibility that more sisters will be disqualified," he said.
Patole said now it has been established that the scheme was merely an electoral gimmick. "In the past, we had repeatedly warned that BJP would reveal its true colours after the elections, now their so-called brothers have started treating their sisters as outsiders," said Patole.— Prafulla Marpakwar
