Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister and finance minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has urged Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to release pending funds and extend financial assistance to Telangana. He also requested the Union minister for restructuring loans of various state corporations and special purpose vehicles and to give instructions to the various financial institutions.
The Deputy CM, along with Congress MPs Balaram Naik, Ch Kiran Kumar Reddy, Mallu Ravi, and Telangana special chief secretary K Ramakrishna Rao, met the Union minister on Saturday in Delhi and submitted letters for various pending issues.
Vikramarka sought help on the pending issues ahead of the Telangana govt presenting its state budget in the next couple of weeks. He asked the Centre to expedite the reimbursement of 408 crore pending to the state govt, along with special assistance for backward districts under Section 94(2) of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. He brought to the notice of Nirmala Sitharaman that the financial assistance was stopped to the govt five years ago and has not been released yet.
Requesting a correction of allocation errors in the release of centrally sponsored schemes during 2014-2015, the Deputy CM said the central schemes' assistance was credited to AP and did not release Telangana's share yet. He also asked the Centre to resolve the outstanding dues between Telangana and the AP govts, which have been pending for the past 10 years.
The state finance minister discussed the amount receivable from AP Power Finance Corporation towards excess liability allocated to Telangana Power Finance Corporation and reimbursement of 208 crore under the AP Reorganisation Act. The Deputy CM also asked the Centre to resolve the outstanding dues between AP and Telangana power utilities.
Congress MP Kiran Kumar Reddy said the Deputy CM explained the current financial situation and also requested the Centre to give Telangana its share of the budget in all sectors as per the contribution of the state to national GDP. The Union finance minister responded positively to the list of grievances of the state.
