Accused held grudge against father: Police
Thiruvananthapuram: The man who killed his father at Vellarada on Wednesday night held a grudge against the deceased, believing that his life was spoiled because of him, said Vellarada police probing the case.
Police further stated that the accused, Prajin Jose, 29, of Charuvila Bungalow at Kiliyoor, used to demand money from his father and was frustrated when the father stopped giving him money. A few months ago, the father, Jose, 70, gave him Rs 1.5 lakh to secure a role in a movie, but he did not get the chance. The accused often complained that his father did not provide him with enough freedom during his childhood, which he believed spoiled his life.
The accused, who was an MBBS graduate from China, did not receive the certificate from the college as the Ernakulam-based agency that secured him admission did not make the required payment of Rs 4 lakh to the college. However, the parents claimed that the money was paid, but due to some technical issue he could not receive the certificate. The family was also not in a position to pay the amount again to collect the certificate.
"Four days before the murder, the accused was seen sharpening a knife and a day ago, Prajin hit his father on the chest without any reason," said Shine Kumar, 61, a relative.
The mother of the accused was attending a prayer online when the crime took place. The accused attacked the father using a machete and a knife, said the police.
The accused was remanded by a court after being produced before the magistrate on charges under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder.
