Kanpur: The district magistrate of Kanpur Nagar on Friday issued show cause notices to SDM Narwal, general manager Jalkal, and gave special adverse entry to Block Development Officer for not disposing of IGRS references within the stipulated time.
District magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh, considering the adverse effect on monthly ranking of the district, issued a show cause notice to the sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Narwal, asking for his explanation within one week.
The district administration had forwarded nine IGRS references to the SDM in January, which were disposed of after the stipulated time, consequently affecting Kanpur's monthly ranking adversely.
He also issued a show cause notice to the general manager Jalkal for pending feedback issues. Expressing displeasure, the DM noted that 98 cases awaited feedback action by the general manager Jal Kal in January, with similar pending feedback from December 2024.
The municipal commissioner was instructed to identify negligent officers/employees, establish their responsibilities, and ensure appropriate action, as 10 references sent to the Kanpur Municipal Corporation in January remained unaddressed past the deadline.
The DM issued a special adverse entry to Block Development Officer Chaubeypur Chandramani for dereliction of duty. Fifteen IGRS references from January were disposed of after the time limit expired.
The feedback from complaints of the Chief Minister's office revealed 85 percent negative IGRS references and 75 percent negative helpline references, affecting the district's monthly ranking.
The untimely disposal tarnished the image of the government and the administration. Despite about 10 reminder letters for reference disposal, his negligence in official responsibilities warranted a special adverse entry. The DM said that officers showing negligence in quality and timely disposal of references would face strict action in future.
