Neighbour rapes woman who was helping his wife cook

Surat: A 42-year-old man, the father of two children, was arrested for allegedly raping a 20-year-old neighbour from his society in the Puna area when she went to his house to help his wife make khajoor pak.
The man, who runs a sari lace business, used to give the woman and her sister work to do from their home, over the last four years.
While the crime was perpetrated on Feb 3, the woman filed a complaint the next day as the accused had threatened to kill her and harm her family.
On Feb 3, the accused's wife called the woman to help her make the winter specialty. When the woman entered the house, the accused forced her into his room and raped her.
"The accused took advantage of his wife going to the market to buy certain ingredients," said V M Desai, inspector, Puna police station.
The next day, the woman told her mother about the sexual assault, and a complaint was lodged.
