Jaipur: Rajasthan set a new world record in Surya Namaskar as the yoga events organised across the state on Feb 3 witnessed over 1.53 crore people performing the salutation to the Sun God.
With the previous record of 13.3 million participants having been surpassed, Pratham Bhalla, a representative from the World Book of Records, issued a provisional certificate for this achievement on Rajasthan Assembly premises on Thursday. Education minister Madan Dilawar received the certificate.
Dilawar congratulated the people of the state on this historic feat, saying, "Surya Namaskar is not just an integral part of our culture but also essential for physical health and a stress-free life." He urged everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routine. Under Dilawar's leadership, the education department had organised Surya Namaskar sessions at all govt and private schools across the state. He himself participated at the state-level event at SMS Stadium's football ground in Jaipur.
