The police arrested an inter-State chain snatcher involved in multiple thefts at Mohammadabad Cross of Nallamada mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district on Friday.

On January 27, a gold chain was snatched from a woman near Rainbow School in Nallamada along the Angadi-Hindupur road. A case was registered at Nallamada police station.

The arrested, Chandrasekhar, and six associates have been involved in at least 10 chain-snatching cases in Chowdepalli, Ramasamudram, Palamaneru, Mudivadu, Gangavaram and Kuppam areas in Annamayya and Chittoor districts. Recently released from Madanapalle sub-jail, he allegedly stole a motorcycle from Chintamani in Karnataka on January 26th and committed another theft in Nallamada the next day.

During the arrest, police recovered 44 grams of stolen gold jewellery and a motorcycle. The operation was led by Circle Inspectors Narendra Reddy and Shivanjaneyulu. Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Ratna commended the team’s swift action. A search has been launched to apprehend Chandrasekhar’s accomplices.
