Pune: Six people travelling in a car suffered injuries after its driver lost control of the four-wheeler and hit two tempos, one after another, parked along the road below the railway overbridge in Mangalwar Peth around 11am on Wednesday.
Senior inspector Prashant Bhasme of the Faraskhana police on Thursday said the car driver, Abhishek Jain (25), a resident of Rasta Peth, and his five relatives were on their way to Pune after attending a function in Pimpri Chinchwad.
"Jain is a jewellery businessman. After they reached Kamgar Putla and were moving towards Shahir Amar Shaikh Chowk, Jain lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tempo parked along the road," the officer said.
Bhasme said Jain, in a bid to gain control of the car, crashed into another tempo, and the four-wheeler came to a grinding halt because of the accident.
"The car and the tempos were badly damaged in the incident," he said.
The police officer said, "The injured victim, Sayyam Bora (21) from Mangalwar Peth, received 10 stitches to his lips. The two others injured, Soham Jain (18) and Jeet Jain, suffered injuries to their heads. Three others occupants of the car — Aryan Jain (18) and Ankit Cheda (30), both from Mangalwar Peth, and car driver Abhishek Jain escaped with minor injuries. All the injured victims were discharged from hospital after receiving treatment."
The police booked Jain for
rash driving and endangering the safety of human life under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Motor Vehicles Act.
