Rajkummar Rao is widely recognized for his exceptional acting talent and successful films. Recently, an older video featuring the Stree 2 actor talking about his financial circumstances has gone viral, igniting conversations about the true nature of success in Bollywood. Even with his celebrated career and numerous box office hits, Rajkummar acknowledges that he doesn’t possess the wealth that many people believe he has.
In a previous interview with Samdish Bhatia on UNFILTERED by Samdish, the actor discussed his income and financial obligations, indicating that people often overestimate his wealth.
Rajkummar clarified that although he is in a stable financial position, he doesn’t possess enough money to make lavish purchases without thinking carefully. He pointed out that he has ongoing EMI payments, particularly after buying a house, and he takes time to assess any major expenses.
“Yaar, itna paisa hai nahi jitna I am sure logon ko lagta hoga. Ke bhai, iska toh bohot paisa hai, sau crore. Nahi hai itna. Bhai, EMI chal rahi hai, ghar liya hai, uski EMI chal rahi hai achha khaasa. Toh matlab, aisa bhi nahi hai ki bilkul nahi hai, aur aisa bhi nahi hai ki bohot hai. Aisa nahi hai ki aaj mann kiya toh showroom mein jaake, ‘Kitne ki hai ye?’—‘Woh sir, 6 crore ki’—‘De de.’ Aisa wala nahi hai,” he said.
When Samdish jokingly asks if he could make a purchase of Rs 50 lakh without any hesitation, Rajkummar laughs and responds, “We can manage up to 50 lakh, but there would need to be a discussion. I can do up to 20 lakh without a problem.” This highlights the importance of financial planning and responsibility, even for successful individuals in the industry.
His emphasis on not all actors having hundreds of crores available challenges the common stereotype that wealth is abundant in Bollywood. By sharing his experiences with budgeting and financial decision-making, Rajkummar provides a more relatable and realistic view of what financial stability looks like, which resonates with many people.
